Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil
Cinnamon Leaf essential oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and small twigs of a tropical evergreen tree. There are two types of Cinnamon oil, one from the inner bark and one from the leaves. Cinnamon bark oil is not used in aromatherapy as it a strong skin and mucus membrane irritant.
Cinnamon Leaf essential oil has stimulating, warming, reviving properties. It is particularly good for stiff joints and muscles, poor circulation and for older people in winter to warm both mind and body.
Cinnamon has been used therapeutically for thousands of years for a whole host of complaints including colds, flu, rheumatism, digestive issues and menstrual problems and is still current in the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia for flatulent colic and indigestion (with nausea). The oil is also used in perfumes and toiletries, for flavouring foods and drinks, and as an ingredient in nasal sprays, cough syrups and dental products.
